Andesine semiprecious gemstones is a silicate mineral vivid red being the most valued. It's sometimes called sunstone because its chemical composition is similar to that gemstone's. Andesine is a lesser known gemstones but is becoming more popular due to larger deposits being found and worked. It comes in a range of colors from red to pink and also white, gray, yellow, and green it also ranges from opaque to transparent with the opaque the more common. Andesine was first described in 1841 for an occurrence in the Marmato mine. It has a mohls scale of 6-6.5 and has refractive index of 1.543-1.551
